Hi all,
A mate of mine has asked me to help him get his vs ss wreck going to use the motor and box in another car.
I havent got the remote so the security is on. Have left the reds on until the flashing light goes out.
There isnt any spark, can hear the fuel pump, didnt bother checking the injector power yet.
I think the problem is with the part in the pic cause the outer casing was broken in the smash.
Can someone identify it for me? And is it in the spark system?

Also do they have a maf? If so can i use a v6 one(have one i can use).
Heres a pic of what i am working on.

that top picture is of the ignition module, it is required for the engine to run, its like the dfi module on a 6 that sits under the coil pack.

the maf is up the back in the same spot as a vr, they dont use a air flow meter as far as i know

Also that ignition module has to be earthed(or grounded), as its usually bolted to the body which automatically earths it.

thanks, i will try and get another one. I drilled the remaining bolt hole and bolted it on one of the strut mount bolts.

It's common for the solder joints where the large transistor package connects to the circuit board to fail, the joint can crack or even start to burn the circuit board. I'd have a look at the inside of it first if the car does not start after you earth it and try. A friend bought one from a wrecker and it stil worked however the solder joints were not far off causing a problem.

Hi all, i tried the ign module on another car and it ran.
I fixed one wire and put it back on this car and can get it to fire with crc down the t/b.
I have no injector pulse. Any ideas?

I also replaced the bcm. So the security shouldnt be the prob, the flashing light goes out. I just got a wrecked vs v6 and used the ign barrel, bcm out of it so that i have a working remote.

Cheers Shane

Considering you can get it to fire with the CRC indicates the ignition system is good to go.
Even though you have a working BCM with remote the ECU still needs to be linked to the BCM to make it run correctly. This is what would be holding you back.
You have four options.
1. Get the BCM linked to the ECU using a Tech 2
2. Get a key to match the original BCM
3. Get a memcal with the security disabled
4. Get a matching BCM and ECU from a V8.

BTW I have heard the V6 and V8 ECU are the same just with a different memcal. Has anyone confirmed this?
