Well, I finally got around to setting up the VS Supercharger CAI on my VR. I know it's pretty straight forward but I thought I'd take photo's along the way - maybe it'll help somebody.

Removing the airbox
This is very straight forward, just disconnect the air-pipe, unclip the top of the air-box, remove the filter and just unscrew it.

Making the new "snorkel" fit!
I decided not to buy the bottom of the air-box from Holden and just cut mine to fit the new duct. We (well, actually the old man did it while I sat back taking pictures and drinking coffee) used a rotary tool (aka Dremel) for this and must say it worked really well. I'm sure a hacksaw would work OK too, but you get a nice straight line with the rotary

Scribed the shape of the new duct

First cut (rough)

After making the first cut down the side of the air-box we put the new duct in there and marked out where we needed to cut on the second side.

We did the corners with a rough sandpaper cylinder that came with the rotary tool, first thoughts were that the plastic would clog it up and it wouldn't work but it actually worked _really_ well. Highly recommend it for doing the corners:

Mmmm... rotary goodness

Part III (Return of the airbox)

Back into the car

Now we put it back in the car:

Next up we needed to mount the scoop onto the top of the fan shroud. We decided not to put CAI into the radiator, so we put a plate under there before drilling:

And then we just popped in the rivets (make sure you drill ~1mm smaller than the size of the rivits and just squeeze them in. I've got a feeling if we drilled at 8mm they would just about fall out.

Done!

This tutorial kinda seems superfluous now... I think I just wanted to use the camera. :p

G'day azkwazere,

Thanks for the comments, Re Q 2. Yeah - I believe the same kit fits the VN-VP as well as the VR-VS (here's something about it: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=15433&highlight=Holden+CAI)

3. Yeah, you can buy the bottom of the air-box, not sure about the price though... The parts you'd want are:

* GM-92053315 (INLET ASM-AIR C) ~ $20.87
* GM-92053314 (DUCT ASM-COLD A) ~ $32.71
* GM-92138218 (RIVIT) ~ $1.31 (This is for 3 - which you'll need).
* GM-92053006 (Bottom of the air-box) Not sure what they're worth, I'd be thinking ~ $30 though? I got the part numbers from DJ Majah's post here.

Good work Dexn, One other extra thing that you can do is trim the front edge of the intake. Only about 1.5cm ( to the edge of the ribbing ) to open up the intake more. :yeah:

Thanks mate,
I hadn't thought about that but looks like a good idea - I'll have to give it a go :)
I was thinking about putting a bit of a bevel on the lower "lip" of the intake (try and catch a bit more air ;-) - but I think your method would work a fair bit better).
