eco tech transmission will it fit a vr commodore??

I have blown the transmission in my vr series 2 i am wondering if a vs transmission of the eco tech motor will fit ????
my partner brought one without thinking and now i don't know if it will go in are there any mods i would have to make?

i'm pretty sure it will bolt up, but the electronic side of things are different I think.

I don't believe that it willl work, as the wiring will be totally different. The VR automatic had a separate computer to control the transmission, whereas with the VS onwards transmissions, the ECU controls both the engine and the transmission.

in other words you would need a VS auto ECU - engine looms and wiring harness and not 10)% sure but a BCM plus keyheads as well.

I think you should get rid of that VS trans, it sounds like too much work, my mate is trying to sell his VR auto for $300 if your interested though, he just did a manual conversion, and if you ask me, thats your best option too

just installed a vs auto in my vr calais. works great.except the temp goes up and down a few times and engine management error light pops up sometimes. the transguy had to some work on the solenoid to get the vs box happening.

the solenoids are swapped from the vr box to the vs box

thanks everyone it worked my partner swapped the back of the boxes over so plugs were all the same and they were both 13 pin so its all ok so far thanks again for everyones help
