please help!! Damn gearbox auto Problems, VX S2 only 53,000 on clock always serviced, plant it in first and there is a milli - second of gearbox slip, well thats what it feels like, (tyres are fine) then around 80klms it kicks back and forth from third to drive unless I plant it so it can sort its position out.has a clunk when all this is going on, has new oil no leaks, surely with this amount of Klms should still be brand new, I heard they have a solinoid that controls the gears? is this right and if so is it adjustable? sure don't want to drop the box out..
any suggestions?

Admin, I belive we might need to move this thread to the correct section, and to gather some more information on the problem. Being a VX is your car still covered under warrenty?

Have you checked your transmission fluid level?

VXii SS 56000KM Auto rebuild

2001 VXII-SS 56000KM auto always slipped when changing from 1st to 2nd. Holden said it was normal!!??!!. Got to stage where 2nd would slip so much there was no drive. Back to Holden who contracted it out to gearbox specialist (4months out of factory warranty). $4300NZ cost to fix. Found 2nd gear drum was out of shape which can only be done during manufacturing which caused 2nd gear auto band to wear out. Holden admitted factory part from new was faulty and agreed to pay 50% of cost leaving with me $2072 to pay. I was quoted by independent that total cost of rebuild would be $2200-2500 so is the over inflated cost of $4300 to get me to pay the total cost of the rebuild. However, if the part was ok from the factory then the transmission wouldn't have failed and I wouldn't have to pay for a rebuild. This was today so the battle begins with Holden to recover costs.

Anyone have same or similar problems?
