Hey guys,

Just went and got myself a HSV XU6 S/C VT II. It has done only 68,000 k's. I picked it up for 18,000 with books and all. Clean car but the only prob that i have is i'm noticing that when i go from N to R the gear takes like just ova a second to engage and the car shakes a bit when i do it.... is this normal or is my gear box going to die on me????? when i drive forward it doesnt seem to make any noise....i'm stressing cause i just spent all my savings on it and now i'm scared that it will die and i will have to pay off my ass for it!!!!!
any adivce it greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

Thanks guys....
Have a fun day!!!!!

Hey mate,

I'd say thats pretty normal.
My VS used to do the exact same thing. It'd always take bout a second for it to go into reverse.
Might be advisable though to get an trans service done though, if the car yard didn't do one that is.
Just to play it safe.
Cheers

I think i need a service i'm just scared that it'll die on me. I dont like the sound it makes when i chuck it into reverse. It shakes the car.. where can i get a good service done... Should i stick to Holden or is there somewhere cheaper and as good as Holden? Its only been touched by Holden

Thanks mate

Does it kind of clunk at little wen u chuck her into reverse?
The VS used to occasionally do this, or other times it felt like the rear of the car wiggles.
Probly a stupid question, but you do fully stop b4 u engage reverse?
So many people I c rolling and engage a either D or R. . . :b:
Anyways, The best place I found is out at Richmond. They're tops for auto boxes. Had one done there, they give a 3yr 60k warrenty and full rebuild the auto! :D
Personally i dont really rate Holden workmanship that highly.
Take to a specialist.
Cheers.

The slight pause selecting gears is normal....but the shudder/shakes sounds a bit suss.

If you have just purchased the car from a car yard then you should bring your concerns to the attention of where you bought it. If it was a private sale then you are on your own and it might be worth having a transmission specialist take a look at it.
