G'Day All,

I'm currently looking at a new car. At the moment i have a VR II Berlina, done 230000+ kms, Time for a change.

I have been looking at a VT or VX in particular but i have a huge problem...

I want a Manual but i want a Supercharged 6... All i can seem to find is Supercharged Auto's or V8/V6 Manuals.

I'd like your input as to what would be best for me to do...

- Get a V8 Manual and put up with the Fuel Usage and Higher Insurance
or
- Get a Supercharged 6 and convert to Manual...(Difficult???)
or
- Get a V6 Manual and either supercharge or swap engines with a Supercharged 6... (Difficult???)

Thanks for your time,
Daniel

this is my suggestion, buy a manual VX V8 manual, because they dont make supercharged manuals, & it will cost a bit to convert

another suggestion mayb go a series 1 vt manual v8 as the engine is only a 5.0L instead of 5.7L, if you are worried about fuel & insurance

I dont think you should bother wit a supercharged the insurance for a v8 aint that much more than a supercharged(that was with mine so i doubt it would be much different for you )
You get alot more power and fuel prices will kill you in anything these days.

I would go for VX supercharged version as they are pretty good with plenty of low down torque power but in stock form they really need some mods to get to best out of them

Howdy,

Thanks guys for all your input. But after driving an Auto for the past few years and all me mates havin manuals im defenetly going to go 4 a manual.

Seeing as tho i want lots of power also, a VX SS seems to be the way to go. Been looking around and you can get a fairly decent one for around $20k, stock might i add. (In SA)

Cheers for your views.

Spend 3 grand and you've got an awesome car with the VX SS..

It's a very easy car to modify and get power from..

What would you spend 3k on?

$1000 for edit.
$2500 for a decent flowing exhaust.
$20 2 hole mod.

Still only gives you about 230rwkw

But i agree the SS is a much better car to buy, but remember, Holden clutches are ****, so you are almost looking at another $1500 for a decent clutch to suit the LS1

im 21 right now and just bought myself a vx series 2 berlina v8 5.7L auto with just about 80,000 on the clock, with spoiler, tinted windows, 18inch wheels (monaro's series 1 wheels), a free key since it only had one and i think someone has put a new exhaust with extractors on it not sure yet until i see an exhaust shop for a price of $19,990 in very good condition too.

insurance for me is only now going to cost me no more than $1500 compared to my old car it was going to be $1300 which was a 6 cylinder ford with ticky engine for exhaust system with pacie comps, lowered, 17 inch mag wheels, gas, tinted windows, im glad i bought the vx its awsome to drive smooth and quite. the quote was from just car insurance
