Just a quick question

Have a VX II S, standard alloys
16" with 225/50-16 tyres on them

Tyre Placard says I can go up to 17's with 235/45-17 tyres

if I go to 18" alloys, what size tyres am I able to put on it

Am I going to have to go with the normal rolling size right now
and put 225/40-18 or can 235/40-18's be put on without effecting
the speedo?

Cheers

actually, if someone could also clear up the tyre size comparison for me
it would be good, kinda dont know all too much about the difference in
tyre sizes and their effect on speedo readings.

ok so with above mentioned size 235/40-18 its gonna throw the speed out by about 2%

Would you need to have the speedo reset, or would you not bother?

It wont be that bad, only 1km at 50, nothing realy. The stock speedo will never be correct anyway so it may even get it closer to correct you dont know. Whatever the case it should not matter.

That's theoretical.. My speedo was always 2km/h off.. Changing the wheels did NOTHING..

When speedo says im going 100km/h, I'm still going 98km/h

Theoretical yes, and in practise there will be a change. If the tyre diameter changes then there will be (even if just slightly) a change.

VX S 5 speed
i put 235/40-18's on my vx s too.
this will be fine. the first number in the tyre size is about the width of tyre i think, so if you get 225 or 235 it won't make a difference to your speedo.

not worth fixing the speedo for 18" rims only 2 inches bigger than stock. if you get them with 235/40-18s then the difference is minimal.
