happens alot when you plant the foot and let go instantly? if so, its normal

Backlash from the driveline is common in the VT/VX series, not as noticeable
in automatics than manual models. Was the 1st thing I noticed and started picking
in to when I got my VX Manual

VT GTR EXEC S1 - SOLD off
mine does it too, had holden look at it during last service , the backlash on rear end is pretty bad, and drive shaft bearings are getting worn. 180,000k on it. will probably just sell this thing, holden doesn't seem to know how to fix it

yeah its normal.
i get it too.
especially when its a small road and i accelerate and let go when i get to the end of it just before it changes up a gear.
no need to worry unless its happening all the time. then you might have another problem.

apparently they fixed it in the VY/VZ series.....but I still find it odd how Holden know its a common problem, yet have/done nothing to fix it.

i have been told the backlash in the VT/VX diffs is caused by the way they manufacture them. apparently when they install the diff gears into the diff casing the casing has only just come out of the casting machine and is still warm. therefore when the casing cools and contracts the diff gears no longer seat properly, or something along those lines. i was told this by a diff specialist who recently installed a VZ lsd diff and a some new diff gears in the work ute.

Yeah i was told the same thing by a tech at my last service, some of them are louder than others due to only a few mm difference,
and mine being manual, soon as i engage the clutch at low speeds it comes through all the time.
