VT Acclaim
We have just had our VT put onto gas. On petrol we used to get about 550km from a 72L tank around town. However on gas we are just getting 350km our of a also 72 usable litre tank. I understand that I will use more fuel on gas but this seems too much more. At the moment it is costing me money to rin the car on gas.
Has anyone got any ideas on why this would be happening or if maybe someone has experienced the same thing.
Thanks

LPG CONVERSION'S have only made the installer's rich,Gas is 30% more cheaper then petrol but uses 20% more then petrol. The biggest reason your not getting more km's is because without knowing it your reving more, driving faster, accelerating harder because you think ahh it gas should be cheap to run.Think about it fill your tank with petrol for $1.34 a litre how do you drive?I bet more smoothly. If you want GAS buy it from the factory when ordering you new car,the head's are made to run gas,the computer is changed should be using about 11 lires per hundred kay's.

my car uses 5% more gas than petrol, my installer said expect 10 - 15% more so i'm stoked :D
i'ld suggest taking it back to where you got it done and ask them if they can tweak the tuning a little.
also remember its hard to get a full fill with gas as apposed to petrol.

VXII Wagon dual fuel
I've got a VX!! wag. factory dual fuel. Lightly modified - exhaust and extractors. Out of 72 litres' I'd get 530km (13.5lit/100km) in mixed city country driving. In victoria gas is 40-50% the price of petrol

It definately sounds like yor LPG install hasn't been tuned correctly.

As your LPG consumption is close to 20.6L / 100km

I have a vx exec factory dual fuel. On petrol we get approx 700-750kms open road driving, and on LPG we get 650kms on a tank, so pretty good economy in my books

Are u sure u definitly have 72L usable?
Our tank is bout 60 usable, and we only ever fill up round 55L from what we use.
We get between min 320ks to 460ks out of a tank.
Best we've done is 500ks.

In a VXII S manual.

Mezza, if the installer is good they'll either reprogram the ecu or install an LPG memcal.
And have u ever driven an LPG powered vehicle?
Cause both of our u dont need to accelerate more, or drive harder.
I've got a dyno sheet to prove the poofteenth difference power wise between petrol n LPG. . . . . . . . .

And if its tuned properly then consumption is not as bad either.

scojohara: get ur system retuned, either by some one else or the same dude. U should be gettting way more, especially from 72L
My V8 Senator gets more from 65L useable.

I have a VT SS and I get between 400-450 out of a tank and that is for a v8. What system do you have installed is it the old mixer setup or the new gas injection system? Has it been back for the 1500klms check up?

Not properly tuned. Go to a specialist gas place for a tune, not a mechanic who says they service LPG or do installation. A proper gas mechanic, who does nothing but gas. No less.

It's all about the tune. My car went from a backfiring POS to a dream, with a new set of plugs, leads and a good tune.

I'm also pretty sure it's about 60 useable litres.
