not a v6.. but 5.0L v8 with 264,000km's.. Been using penrite hpr30 since 150,000 and it doesn't use a drop between services.

I've been running PM Lubricants 25w60 Endurance for about 60 000k's now. They just tested it on Friday, and said I will need to change it in 8000 k's. It has already done 22 ooo k's on this oil change

Go Penrite 15w-40. It will be fine, go the semi-synthetic. Best possible oil to use.

You really don't need to go much thicker for a few more years..

Service manual recommends 20w50 unless you are in snowy areas, then 15w40 is recommended. The engine was built to tolerances that use a 20w50 oil, there is no need to change.

Just watch the best possible oil to use. It is infact untrue. I do suggest watching the weight, as the Angry cat already mentioned.

Angry cat....haha. That demonstrates my frustration at some of the people on forums.

I always thought 15-40 was recommended for the Ecotec. My VX has 217,000 and I still use 10w-50, it's the oil that makes it run the best.

I tried a 20w-50 before, it's notwhere near as good as a 15w-40. But my car is on gas though.

Someone check the owners manual for a VT6 and tell me what they recommend. I also thought Holden use 15-40..
