Hi all,
As the title suggests, I'm looking for a way to make interior lights brighter (if it can be done).
I have a vy commodore and I have already changed the bulbs to red LEDs (ba9s for the map lights and 36 festoon bulbs for the rear - cant remember exactly how many actual leds are on each bulb) but they are pretty pathetic. I'm not sure if red is a very bright colour however. I'm not even sure if this can be done but some expert help would be greatly appreciate!

Thank you.

Red is closest to black on the light spectrum a'la infra red, red light in photographic darkrooms (what the?), blue is next to white like >6000k HIDs, and blue spectrum in headlights are illegal.
Then again so are red headlights.

Install white led lights instead of red, problem solved.

Yeah, red like first post is the lowest energy colour in the spectrum. Less energy = less light
I'd suggest a white light.
Or any other colour would be brighter

As mentioned, red is a bad choice for visibility best going white. LEDs will take a bit of shopping around to find some good ones, anything CREE will be good as long as the beam angle works for the application.
