WTF??? This makes no sense whatsoever.

On a serious note, where did this little gem of reasoning come from, and what has it to do with interior illumination???

The wavelength of red on the spectrum is close to the 'edge' of visible light is what he means.
Also lower frequency waves (red being lowest visible) carry less energy and disperse easier hence less illumination. Compare a red and blue LED and you'll see the difference

Yeah, red like first post is the lowest energy colour in the spectrum.

As an aside (and probably off topic), what rubbish!!! The only difference between the colours is the frequency. It has absolutely nothing to do with 'energy' (your words).

Red = Lowest frequency (Longest/larger wavelength)
E = hv where V is the frequency of an electromagnetic wave.
Therefore lower frequency must mean lower energy.

This is why we get sunburnt from UV rays, they're past blue...

The OP who has set his car interior lighting like a mobile darkroom, he now is wondering how to make it brighter.

Thanks for all the suggestions/help! I'll just learn to live with the red lights and I'll just grovel when I get in the car at night and can't find anything haha I just wired another set of footwells up which turn on with the interior lights so hopefully they will help (of course they are red lights, after complaining about red not being bright enough, I wire some more red in :/)

I had all green in mine but just decided on a bright white light in the top.
