You know I come here for some help not to be lectured by someone who was clearly being a smart ass. obviously I'm going to be one back. I wonder if you all are like this when your talking face to face with someone?

someone watchin out for your safety and you call him a smartass? glassjaw mate. pull your **** together.

as for your trouble:

spring compressors would be ideal. if not

- jack car up
- undo shocker bolt
- slide a long bar (something similar to a crowbar) between cradle and body
- push down and get a mate to pull the spring out

this might not work, but not havin proper tools only goes so far.

well in all the vt - vz rear stock springs ive removed ive never been able to use spring compressors due to lack of space, id love to know what holden use, ive used different lengths but found the old pinch bar does the job alot better, but please if you are going to put any part of your body under the bloody car use some stands, i wouldnt even rely on my $250 shop jack..

You only need the bar if it has the camber adjustments in the rear, which VS's don't. I replaced all springs in a VY SS ute a couple of months ago, all I had to do was undo the lower shocker bolt and let it down slowly, that was enough for the old spring to come out and place the new one back in.

Wasn't lowering it either, was replacing SSSL springs with FE2 springs for a roadworthy.

you wont have room to put spring compressors in to do rears on a commodore, jack it right up and put a stand under car then undo shocker at bottom you can usually push down on the rear disc with your foot and they should come close to falling out i have done heaps before, sometimes you may need a bar if it has urethane bushes and hasnt been tightened correctly with the car on the ground and not up in the air on stands, hope this helps.

If you dont have any stands mate, big bits of wood will do (like lengths of 12"x12").

OP, Its best not to even hint about doing anything dodgey (or out of the norm) on this website, because unless your a forum sponsor, youll get flamed by a hundred internet mechanics telling you your a child, an idiot, a criminal, cant spell etc. But thats how forum mentality works, Its a bit like being on that tv show Jeremy Kyle.
