So your parents fled Europe as refugees. What shits me about some refugees is that they pick and choose which country they want to go to. Australia is a ####ing long way from Europe and there were plenty of neutral countries a lot closer. My point is, you shouldn't be here.

My outlooks on immigrants are no less misguided or outrageous than your views on addiction etc.

Who said his family were "refugees"? They could have just been migrants who fled Europe, arrived here legally and settled legally, and I can assure you there were no hand out's back then, unlike today. Your wording suggests you are trying to link the two topics so I thought I would cover that.

Arguing with idiots is pointless. They lower you to their level and beat you with experience. So I stop arguing before that happens.

Switch the focus to weights training and you'll see much better results. 80% weights and 20% cardio is generally good. Chicks too often focus on cardio because they fear "bulking up" but chicks can't "bulk up" without supplements. When you weight train, you continue to burn fat even when resting and on rest days. When it comes to chicks and weight there is sickly skinny (the typical model types, Jen Hawkins etc) and there is toned fit (Emily Skye is a good example).

You don't tone/sculpt/increase muscle by doing loads of cardio.

Just some free friendly advice. :D

Finally, something we agree on. Can someone please fix that tear in the space time contunuim ?

I think the whole issue in this thread since it has been revived is the generalisations being thrown about.

While I dip my hat to Grennan and the awesome changes he has made, not everybody is capable of the same due to many different factors. Those factors need to be taken into consideration before we just tar everybody with the same brush.

Yeah I'm not even going to dignify Big-Al with a direct response. Clearly someone who doesn't understand. Migrating legally was BLOODY HARD WORK. Living in migrant camps, having to get by until you learned the language, renting someone's garage for your family of four once you were fully (legally) settled in the country, finding a job. My grandmother was a master seamstress and without being able to speak a word of English went to an interview for a job. Her and the interviewer got through it and because of her attitude she got the job. My grandfather was a cabinet maker who started his own business and then expanded to floor coverings. They eventually owned two shops specialising in their skills, put their kids through school and worked hard their whole lives contributing to the community and their new country (they all became citizens as soon as they could, giving up their previous citizenship) never with their hands out for anything.

But apparently all this means I shouldn't be here and is somehow related to obesity.

Cool. Give "I do cardio training as well" a go for a month and see the results. :) By that I mean, switch to a weights focus (say, 15 - 20 min cardio in a hour to 75min gym session). I think you'll like what you see. :)

It's kind of what I do already. I warm up with 10 mins of cardio then do a combo of machines, free weights, stretching and ab work for around 45/55 mins, then hit up the cardio for up to an hour depending on how tired I am. I often do HIIT during my cardio sessions (high intensity interval training for those playing at home) of 60 seconds on/60 seconds rest. I always feel pumped after.

I used to be a bit of a gym junkie, had my own personal trainer who I used to meet every morning (bar Sunday's) so know what I am doing. I just need to get my body back, but that will take time and effort.

Just hard on client's who notice I am slimming down when they struggle themselves for various reasons.

lols at thoughts of the Jew hunter in "Inglorious bastards" chasing Raj's family all over Europe to the Benny Hill theme music.

Simple minds, simple things I guess.

Only the Aboriginals are native to Australia. Rest of us landed here and took over.

Therefore we all need to pack up and head back home!

Actually they're not. They just came here a lot earlier.

This is the greatest thread ever.

We've covered:

- Fatties
- Medical contributors to weight issues
- Some fitness advice
- WWII history
- The difference between "migrant" and "refugee"
- Australian history and are touching on the origins of the human species.
- Big-Al has some interesting (read: shallow and uneducated) views
