    wheels, rims

Thanks for that, didn't know about them, that's the main reason for posting here, to learn about any viable options. But it seems I didn't know about them for a good reason, as they seem pretty rare, can't find any for sale near me. But they would be good enough for me, I just want rid of...

    wheels, rims

Yeah, the 5 spoke 17" calais ones were the ones I liked. I prefer them with as they have the centre caps and standard nuts (hopefully?), the SS ones and similar aftermarket don't have centre caps. I looked here, GumTree and ebay before starting the thread, nothing in WA, most seem to be in...

    wheels, rims

Hey guys. I got my mrs set up with a bargain VZ a year or two ago and have had no problems since (besides the diff mount bushes stuffed and clunking which will be fixed soon I hope). I was really worried about the alloytec at first, but been good so far besides some interior trimming and...

Anyone know somewhere in Perth for cheap remotes/keys?

The remote stopped working in my VZ. Opened the door and the alarm went off, but alarm cut out and car drove fine after putting the key in the ignition. Did the "press unlock/lock " on the remote and seems to work fine now, but as I don't have a spare and it may be dying batteries in the...

    SUV set to replace Commodore

People want SUVs for family cars, or smaller cars for one or two passengers these days. Most enthusiasts like the RWD 6cyl or V8 cars, and if they are loaded or snobby, they buy a BMW or merc. If they aren't, they want a SUV or a FWD 4cyl. Even taxis are camrys or Priuses these days. Ford...

Best possible oil to use in alloytec v6 in summer temperatures ?

Probably better of starting a new thread for this I think, rather than reply to an old thread, (most people don't read threads to the end before replying, so now you bumped this thread, most likely people would reply to the original question and not even read/notice your post, so just wasting...

So I took the plunge and bought a tech 2

Most mechanics in Perth charge $70 to hook up a tech 2, Dealers charge even more. I had an airbag fault (removed seats butdidn't cut power - needed to wind windows up and down), and rung around heaps a month ago. There's a guy that advertises on gumtree for $50 reset, and more for any mods...

help me please! 2004commodore problems, don't know what to do!

I think the only recall was for side airbags. Standard only has the fronts and there was no recall. Does your car say on the door pillar side air bags/SRS? Could have been a loose connection and now needs to be reset. If you have side airbags it could be a bad connection near the seat...

Your favorite type of Motor Sport.

I'll take Formula One without the 'r' thanks Eddie. I don't have time to watch much motor sport, when I do it's F1 and Moto GP. Unfortunately there's not much else shown FTA anyway.

    VX V6 Broken Down Again

I have run out of fuel twice in my BA, still going fine. My EL fuel pump died after running out of fuel, but it was 14 years old and spent most of it's life running on empty with the fuel light on, and it died probably just due to it's 14 year age. I know you can burn a pump out by running...

    Which fuel to use.

In my last car I used caltex vortex 98 a few times a year, as I found that had the best performance and economy, and did the best job on cleaning out the injectors. My last car was an EL falcon, and being a normal dizzy on it I could advance the ignition a lot for more power when using better...

    '06 SVZ Alloytec to LS2

Ya sell it and buy one. Cheaper, less drama, and leaves one 6cyl out there to be bought by people who prefer that, rather than you convert it. New & Used HOLDEN COMMODORE SS VZ in Victoria for sale - carsales.com.au A VZ SS is not rare or expensive, no point making one.

Any tips on getting a job in the mines????

It's hard t get in now, it's on the downturn. People already in are cruising for a few years, but companies aren't hiring unless you are experienced. Most of the work is short term or on contract (lower pay, worse conditions). Oil and Gas is the new thing. Source: My brother started with...

    Rear seat belt length

Old thread and I've got a VZ anyway, but exact same problem. Seat belt all the way out (can seen numbers printed on the last bit of the belt) Just posting anyway to let others know that this is a real problem depending on the seat as this thread comes up easily on google and I have found no...

    Airbag fault after removing seats

I just got a reply from the nearest dealer and they wanted $150 to reset the airbags, going on about needing to check all the wiring first. Stuff that. Anyone know a good mechanic in Perth near the CBD that can do it? Also needs oil and filter change anyway so I'll see if they can do the...

    Airbag fault after removing seats

I was a bit worried about disconnecting the battery as I don't know if the stereo is coded. Is that the case? If so I didn't have the code either so I would still be stuffed. Anyway to get the code without paying a dealer? Back to the side airbags, I noticed while searching there was a...

    Airbag fault after removing seats

OK, so I removed the seats to dry out my carpet, now there's an airbag fault. Search here says I have to take it to a dealer and pay for a reset, is that right? Any other way to do it?

Headlight blubs and steering wheel buttons

Got the mode button loose on my VZ steering wheel. How do I get to it, what causes it to come loose? Is it available separately as a spare part new or is it one part that does all three buttons as a cluster on the LHS of the steering wheel? Is it a common fault? The button works fine still...

VZ timing chain plus tensionor replace cost including labour?

I am scared... Did you have to change the chains or was there another reason for opening it up. If it was for the chains, what were the symptoms, what were the kms you had to do it? I bought a VZ the other day because the EL was due for retirement, (the Mrs wanted something with front and...

    ac/heater dials mod

Looks OK. One of the things that I think is a definite turn off in the commodore is these dials. Terrible design all around IMHO. I don't think anything will make them better, but at least your mod makes them not stick out so much. They look bad, what were they thinking?

Wet Rear Passenger Side Foot Carpet on Wagon

Thanks. Oh Wow! Might just leave it bent over the dash for the week end and dry it out that way instead. Of course it's going to rain all weekend, stupid weather! I'll try leaving it with the boot ajar and the rear seat folded down overnights. Might have to get the mrs with the hairdyers...

Wet Rear Passenger Side Foot Carpet on Wagon

Got the same problem, anyone know how to remove the carpet? I've got the seats, sill kick trims, handbrake/shifter console removed. I just need to be able to pull the carpet out from under the dash and centre console. Anyone know how?
