Airbag fault after removing seats

OK, so I removed the seats to dry out my carpet, now there's an airbag fault.
Search here says I have to take it to a dealer and pay for a reset, is that right?

Any other way to do it?

Unless a mechanic you know has tech 2,
For future reference you need to disconnect the battery before removing the seats

Sometimes a flatish battery can cause it

I was a bit worried about disconnecting the battery as I don't know if the stereo is coded. Is that the case? If so I didn't have the code either so I would still be stuffed. Anyway to get the code without paying a dealer?

Back to the side airbags, I noticed while searching there was a recall on them, any way of finding out what was done and whether the previous owner got it sorted?

I just got a reply from the nearest dealer and they wanted $150 to reset the airbags, going on about needing to check all the wiring first.
Stuff that.

Anyone know a good mechanic in Perth near the CBD that can do it?
Also needs oil and filter change anyway so I'll see if they can do the reset for free while they are doing oil, filter and tune anyway.

Called an independent mechanic that are really close to me and he said his tool might not be able to reset it, or were unsure if it may be a dealer only ability?
