Calais climate control on 'AUTO' throws to demister when uphill grade ?? vacuum issue

Old thread, but I just found the actuator closest to the driver's footwell was leaking. With the engine on, it doesn't plunge in all the way and there is an audible leak. Same symptoms as above; aircon turning to demister. But I have no footwell aircon at all, and the idle seems rougher than I...

Any other jobs while engine is out?

Cheers for the replies, I hadn't thought of the oil pick up o-ring, it has an oil pressure CEL occasionally, only started recently, but I'm waiting for a new oil sensor to arrive. I'll get onto the lawn tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing the results from the rebuild, Jolls. I'd also worked...

Any other jobs while engine is out?

Hi all, VZ Calais 5.7, all stock. 300k, running well apart from a start up noise. I've had a noisy lifter on start up for a couple of years, and occasionally on idle. Video here. . I'm fairly handy, and have removed a 4L straight six jeep engine before but only for the welch plugs, rear main...

    Two wire thermo fans

I'm thinking have fans on when high or low are switched. Looks like the most plausible if I keep these fans..thanks for the drawings.

    Two wire thermo fans

I've listed the current ones on gumtree ...I think that's the best option too.

    Two wire thermo fans

The factory fans have a pretty bad bearing noise so want to get them replaced soon.

    Two wire thermo fans

I purchased some new fans and shroud, but they have two wires instead of three that my vz ls1 has. Does anyone have any instructions or experience on how to hook up these after market fans on an ls1? Otherwise I might just buy one with the correct connector the same style as the original.

    Vz key flat

The dealer can sell you the key codes and a locksmith can program you a key. I bought one on ebay and they mailed it from Brisbane.

    Start up noise LS1

Thanks for the comments. Turns out when I had the alternator replaced on holidays last year, they kinked the seal at the bottom of the throttle body pipe running from the air filter. It's probably why it started saying 'service vehicle soon' when towing the 1600kg boat and trailer. I fixed it...

    Start up noise LS1

Hi all My VZ Calais is going strong with 280k on the clock, driving around 500 highway kilometres a week. In the past few months, when the engine is cold (weather isn't cold up in Central Queensland) and parked on the flat, there is a noise for the first few seconds on start up. The noise...

    Vz sender problem

The reading was correct, it just lost power with 20L remaining in the tank (I know because the car takes 55L before I can't put any more fuel in). Put in a Walbro fuel pump and sender unit and I no longer lose power and the car starts when it takes 60L. Perhaps I wrecked the pump when I tested...

    Vz sender problem

Thanks for the reply. I thought that, but it only takes 45-50L (aligns with trip computer consumption) so I should have atleast 25L remaining..

    Vz sender problem

Gday All, Seems to be a problem with my sender unit in the tank, at 1/4 fuel level or lower I'm starved of fuel. It happens when the car is either parked passenger side down, accelerating (won't go above 3k rpm) or around a right hand corner. My workshop manuals are at home (Blackwater)...

    Coolant Flush 5.7L

Thanks wortus, I had an idea that's the way I'd have to do it, and I dont urgently need the car right now luckily. I gave it a flush last night and got it up to temperature before it turned green again, so thought I'd better ask.

    Coolant Flush 5.7L

Hi all, Tried to save some money the other day and replace my coolant in the VZ 05 Calais v8. Stuffed it up a bit, put Nulon Long life green in, and only drained the radiator without doing a full flush. I haven't driven it since as it had the red stuff (which you can't buy in Blackwater)...

cigarette lighter/ power acc not working

Thanks man!! Checked it just then and thats the problem. The autoelectrician wanted $100 just to look at it, and to take the console apart, so i've been without my charger for 3 months haha.
