I am not nor ever have been a BMW but I just wanted to say congrats.

Just listen well, take notes if possible and ask lots of constructive questions. Don't do what one muppet did first day on the job a few weeks ago. Start time was 8am, he clocked on and met the Supervisor. Couldn't find him at 8.10am. He had popped outside for a smoke........

So after working at Woolies for the last 8 or so months ( first job ) i've finally scored an apprenticeship as a boiler maker/fitter and turner.

I was just wondering is there any boiler makers/fitter and turners on here that can give me some tips?
I've been told its a pretty hard job so I'm pretty nervous lol, I start Monday.

Apprentice aye? That means that you're officially the new smoko bitch. This involves taking orders, getting food/smokes/porno mags and being responsible for handing out correct change to everyone when you return. At least that's how it's always worked with apprentices that I've know.


Good work though, keep at it and don't be scared off if it looks like being too much info too soon.

Good trade to be in mate, not hard, like anything though, just listen and ask if you don't understand. As for being smoko bitch, I dunno where some people have worked, but there's no shop at my work.

Well done mate. It might be a bit slow for the first few days but if they are serious about having an apprentice theyll take the time to train you right and get you into it right away. Always ask your questions and make them know you want to be there.

even if it is the worst job (ie using broom for a full day)
