My daughter's first car...she's on her L's and we haven't had time to go driving in a few months (other things have kept us busy) so the car has just sat in the driveway...

Went to start it, and the battery was flat...cranked slowly...wouldn't fire...threw a charger on it, and now it turns over faster, but is still not starting...it was running just fine before it sat...

I checked fuel pressure, and it's getting 50psi at the rail, so it's not that...any ideas why it might just randomly decide not to start as described?

You probably need a new battery as it's too dead to be saved... Does the window switches and the electronics work at all?

the battery appears to be relatively new, but that doesn't really mean anything...the power windows still go up and down (maybe slower than I remember?) If the posts weren't reversed on the battery in my Jeep I'd swap it in, and see if it made a difference...I can't get close enough to try jump starting either...

You can try to swap them over...

I tried, but unfortunately, the terminals are reversed on the Jeep battery, and there's not enough slack in the Astra's cables/terminals to reach...
Have you checked the voltage on the battery?

just noticed it has one of those little green porthole things that are supposed to show whether the battery is any good or not...I'm not seeing any green...the one on my Jeep practically glows...guess I can start there

Maybe try that... Though I'm no Astra expert but I'll still try to help to the best of my ability...
