253 rev limit

anybody know just how far i can safely take my fairly stock 253 to?

More than a 308 , I don't recomend you try it, but I've been in cars with good 253's at 7,000 rpm, A stock one wont make much power after 5,000 anyway, so 5,000 is a good place to stop

ok thanks, it usually doesn't get taken much past 3,000. i just wanted to know how far i could take it if i wanted without being too worried

mine starts hating it at about 5. but dont go reving to 5 too often or it will start to get tired.

i got no tach in my race car, but thats just a good stocko, and i usualy rev it to (guess) 6 - 6500 revs, and it loves it :driving:

If it has a few km on it, It'll probably valve bounce at around 5,500 or maybe a little more.

My stocko 253 will go to 5500rpm b4 it starts getting a flat spot.
