I think the VS III and VT blocks were the only ones to be factory clearanced. But I could be wrong.

my mtr in shed is vt gts.but I really would like to keep the car in spec with the parts it came with and also retain the trimatic

pulled manifold of no damage to the eye.
pulled cyl head off and cyl head is ok.
but found this scratched bore and damaged psiston.

so now going the 355 with vn heads thats in the shed.
