Hi,

After coming home after a 7 week holiday, I had left my glovebox open stupidly and it drained my battery. After replacing the battery I went to work the next evening, and I've noticed the headlights don't turn off upon locking the car. I was able to turn the light off via the light switch, I restarted the car , turned on the lights and then turned off the car, Locked it but the headlights didn't turn off. It used to instantly turn off upon turning off the car/ locking it. Is there a relay buggered ? All the fuses are fine so just wondered if anyone had any ideas

Probably a cactus relay in the BCM.

Had issues like that

Was the door light switch in the that drivers door jam. Bit of contact cleaner and WD40 and no more issues

For good measure, did the rest as well

Unless it's a higher level car and the headlight delay has been activated

I know my vs used to turn the lights off when I opened the door. I'd check uniacidz fix.

Heres the door thingy im on about

If its dodgy, what will happen is even when you open the door, it wont activate or releases properly, therefore lights dont turn off when door opens as it thinks the door is closed

I sprayed contact cleaner onto it, and it fixed it straight away.
Took it out and made sure with cleaner and WD40

That was almost 2 years ago. no trouble since

Hope its your issue as was a easy one :)
Unless your is the Calais or similar that has the auto headlight feature.

If Calais or higher BCM
Check out below

May just need reprogamming etc
(this is if you have the auto function on the headlight switch)

If the door switch was dodgy; ie staying in open circuit, that would affect the interior lights as well, as it supplies an earth to the BCM to control the interior lights,
as well as activate the 'auto off' position of the headlights.
Has the OP had trouble with his/her interior lights?
If he/she hasn't, I suspect the BCM circuit that turns off the headlights when the door is opened.
