Active speakers plus amp

Want to buy some bookshelf speakers for my Numark turntable and get rid of the big floor speakers. Question is is it safe to run active speakers from an amp or would it be better to go with passive speakers. Have googled it but i am getting conflicting info.

Active means they run an inbuilt amp. Passive means no amp. So you're not going to run active speakers off an external amp unless you rewire it to bypass the onboard amp.

No it doesn't, its a pretty old amp about 15 years old

Forget previous post , yes it does have pre outs , just had a look . Its a DSE A2760.

One RCA cable from the pre outs to each speaker.

I use an Audio Research LS7 preamp that's almost 30 years old.

I have another Integra amp with all the bells and whistles but is physically too big to fit under the entertainment unit shelf.
