2012 VE SV6 (LPG)
Hi guys,

I'm looking at planning a simple system for my VF wagon. Having had Alpine Type S speakers in my VE, I'm leaning towards Type R with a compact 12" sub.

Are these speakers still decent ? Or are there other brands of similiar price/sound I should be looking at?

Thanks

A lot has been said on the Type Rs in the past, for example alpine type r.

Otherwise they have been around for years and I don't think they have changed much. My own take on listening to the Type Rs is I found them a tight sub that struggled to hit lows.

At the Type Rs price point there are many other subs you good have. Best idea is always get into a shop and have a listen to a few different types and then make a decision.

if you've got the amp to drive them, why not I say.

Type R subs are very good, but I have a feeling you are talking about the components.

I was looking at these but stepped up to the type-x and never regretted it.

With either option you'll want to amp them for sure otherwise stick with some type-s or cheaper price point speakers.

I have used cheap fusion ones without an amp and they were a lot better than stock and $69 for their mid range components.

Hertz. Polk. JL. Focal.

So many. For me, Alpine has always been overpriced for what they actually offer.

I mean seriously...ooOOoo they have speakers handling 110 wrms. Big whoop. You know the audible difference between 80 and 110 wrms? Zip! None that you will hear.

I honestly think I would purchase pioneer ts-d splits before type r.

entry level focals are so much nicer than type R's. just be aware that any aftermarket speaker really needs alot of good clean ampified power to do them justice.
