hey guys just need some help with an amp decision anyway i am buying soon an alpine type r do you reckon the cadence amp ZRS-1502
link : ZRS-1502 - ZRS SERIES - Cadence Sound Systems, Inc.
would be a good amp to power it? i could get the alpine pdx 1.6 but would there be much difference between them? the cadence can go 1 chan 600 rms on 4 ohm where as the pdx can go 1 chan 600 rms on 4 and 2 ohm
i'm only running one sub and the pdx is a good $250 more so is the cadence one more suitable seeing they are both the same rms

As far as I am aware the Alpine Type R is DVC (unless there are two models?) this means that if wired in parallel it would put a two ohm load on the amp. The Cadence is rated to be safely run at 4ohm when bridged, therefore I would go the pdx purely because it is rated to 2ohms.
There are also many other options out there for amps, maybe just shop around and buy as much power as you can afford for a Class D monoblock rated to run at least as low as 2 ohms. Most class D Monoblocks are designed to be run at 2ohm at low frequencies all day long, well two an extent

i would recommend which ever wil suit the amp you like most.
there is no diffference in SQ or SPL between a DVC or SVC.
i would probably be more loking at a class d amp simply because it is more efficent than ab.
next have a look around, goto jb and where ever else, they might have something decent at a good price. also have a look at qulity car audio shops. they can offer HUGE discounts if you know what you are after. when i was having a look at a local car audio shop, I found a nakamichi 4 channel amp at less than half price. if i had 550 i would have snapped it up. (i bought a 22inch lcd instead to ease the pain!)
also if you remember what you need in terms of power then you can get the sales person's advice. i would not recomend talking to jb and the likes guys, they seem to not be too good at it IMO.......

whats sort of cash figure can you spend? we might be able to help.
(also remember its a sub amp so quality is so-so. no need to buy a great amp, unless you have the coin.)

ra1d you must be wrong or you see 1500 watt max because the alpine is 600rms for $650 and thats a mono and i've seen alot around the same price and plus these subs aren't 1 ohm seeing i only have 1 ohm and i've mentioned that

for your reference... Option Audio

max rating isnt worth the paper its printed on... i know what power these amps are rated at, and how much they cost coz i have one mate :p i got it for a good price but have seen it priced reasonably elsewhere. i have it loaded @2ohms but it adequately pushes 2x400w dvc subs for me. its unfair to compare a lot of different brands to alpine, coz it generally is pretty expensive albeit good quality

yeah i agree it is quite expensive but i've been looking around and it seems most brands are around this price range. Just wondering if i do get a 2 chan amp and bridge it is there any pros and cons between it and a mono ? and what do u guys think of the brand soundstream?
