Could it be that the button hole is warn and the rod is no longer a tight fit maybe thats it??? Ill have a look

Well went out and had a look pulled out the old button the hole in the new button is bigger lol so i put in the new button an bingo its staying in maybe the tounges on the side of the button were worn causeing it to pop out ill see how it goes and report back
