What do you mean "shifting RPM"? When you're driving an auto the gear shifts depending on how wide open the throttle is. That's what the throttle position sensor (TPS) is for. "Normal shifting RPM" as you put it could be anywhere between 1000-5500 at the point it changes gear.

If you're having trouble with your auto shifting gears funny its probably a wonky TPS.

Could be the TPS or it might be slipping.

Does it go up to 3000 with no noticeable power increase to go with the rev increase its getting? If it does, your transmission is slipping.

Or if it just holds 1st gear too long, maybe a shift solenoid or the 1-2 accumulator piston in the auto crapped itself and is stuck in the bore or cracked.

If you had the service done at a garage, an auto "service" is just a new filter and a fluid change.. If your auto is slipping a service isn't gonna fix it. You can put one of those bottles of auto transmission conditioner from supercheap in that should make it a bit better, but that isn't gonna last long and you'll need a new transmission eventually.

Shifting is determined largely by throttle position opening (via the TPS sensor) rather than by engine revs. Refer to the attached table.

Mind you the idea of a V6 going 205kph is nothing short of weird (ducks head to avoid being flamed) !!!!

It is more fun to select 1 on the shifter, then take off pedal to the metal and just hold it until it changes to second by default.
Definite red line+ in my VS wagon. These things scream. lol

Explains why your ecotec blows blue smoke then, doesn't it?
