Yep opens fully, one click on the remote and the boot opens fully. You buy the 2 struts that are especially made for boots with spoilers.
No springs or motors just the 2 high pressure struts, will have ours on Friday.
I'll take some pictures and post them.

VX SS (Original owner).
I have had my VX SS from brand new and when you hit the button you here the boot unlock but maybe just lifts around 1cm if that, if you were not watching you would not even know the boot was unlocked. Been like that from day one. Nothing wrong with the struts as they hold the boot open quite strongly, they are obviously genuine Holden struts as I have had the car from new.

Yeah my boot pops about that much. I am just trying to get some auto opening action as i intend to install a custom subwoofer box. And i want it to just be a bit showcar-y

i replaced my boot lift struts with a set of ebay specials in august last year and my boot still bounces off the bump stops every time i hit the remote button on the key fob and i only ordered a set of standard boot struts.

I've never seen a VT/VX/VY/VZ open the boot by itself. Curious myself to see if anyone has figured this out (self lifting).
Mine's self lifting.......I lift it myself :)
