I had a T5 in my VG ute, then went to a Getrag in my VT.
One of the bad points of the VT was the shift quality.
It was **** in comparison, to put it nicely.

If the Getrag had a top loading shifter it may be a different story, but the rubbers and linkages let it down big time.

T5 out of those two.

Love my Getrag. Fully Syn Oil and Nulon treatment = 1 finger gear changes. Sure it whines like nothing on earth but its a wonderful box and if you dont drive like a twat it really performs well. Driven both T5 and Getrag and apart from the cost of replacement parts Getrag ands down :)

I used to have a getrag in my ute and was great to drive but then gave up on me
I then changed to a t5 with a heavy duty clutch, yeah it's hard to keep the clutch in when sitting at the lights for long periods. But it just feels better like you are actually driving the car haha
Anyway I prefer it over the getrag any day

Getrag is the one for me. Nearly 500 000 on it and no whine at all. The linkages are rather sloppy but still very smooth. On the down side my clutch and fly just cost 1300. That's my only issue. There expensive.

Dig dig dig..

Anyway. I have tried Both T5 and getrag. Getrag feels like ****. Got a T5 in my car now the only thing i diss like is the HD clutch but im use to it. I only like the hydraulic clutch on the getrags. Hate the Dual mass flywheel to.

Same here. Had a getrag then converted to a t5 and wont look back. Depends what you want it for also. If its a cruiser then getrag. If you want any trust in your box then go a t5. I no a bloke running 440wrhp threw his turbo ecotec woth a t5 running in the 11"s but its all about how u treat the box and drive the car
