all looks ok under the hood, I checked for any foreign bodies stuck under the car also. Its hard to locate the source of the smell by the time Ive run it back home the whole bay stinks. I cant see any smoke/haze when I lift the bonnet either. Im starting to get worried - first new car and this **** happens! Hopefully I get no crap from Holden over it when I take it in, on the phone they were telling me to recirculate the air conditioning even after I said the smell comes into the cabin with no fans running.

certainly not an insult , was just saying as you noted that you have ridden the clutch a few times...

short trips like that is not the best idea for a new car.. at least get it up to operating temperature and take it for a decent drive...

Thanks for clarifying - I think you may be right - I havnt taken the car for a good long drive since I first got it, I live next to the f3 so there is no excuse. I guess Ill go for a good 100km run see how it goes and if it still is there then take it into holden.

####, took it for a drive then smell still strong. I noticed the handbrake console - the plastic underneath where the lever is burning hot which i thought was strange. Opened the bonnet and the passenger side is unusaully hot compared to the driver side. Then looked at my garage floor and noticed the fluid on the ground. When I have the car parked the gearbox would normally be in this position.

It's not a plastic bag stuck somewhere on the exhaust? They can stick and burn for a while?

as silly as it sounds i wonder if there is a restriction in the passenger side exhaust hence why its getting so hot and the rubber hangers could be burning
does the car feel laggish

This is a dealer issue mate, give them the headache.

It's a new car, you should not have to second guess this problem.

Go there ASAP.

Cheers.
