Calais lost 1 st gear

2017 calais V automatic lost 1st gear, was able to drive in sportsmode to service centre and they couldn't run diagnostic codes. Got car home in sportsmode, left for 5 hours now have 1st gear back.

Cant get into holden service e centre close to me until end of March for diagnostics. Read up about transmission flush and solenoids could be an issue? Don't have the 5k for gearbox if it's that. Anyone have recommendations on what to do?

Make sure it's not leaking and has the correct fluid level.

Hi mate how’d you go did you find what caused the issue? My wife’s VF SV6 wagon has no drive & no 1st in sports mode. Has a P0300 bloody fault as well…
Wandering if similar to yours.

Hi Dave, took the car to transmission specialist they said it was an odd issue as car drove perfectly fine in all other gears so they found it was a transmission valve body check ball which had fully worn down and become stuck in separator plate blocking 1st gear.

How many Ks had the car done when this problem occurred? Thanks.
