i just changed the cam in my car, got a custom grind cam, reletively small (similar to a 276) but got it done with a tight lsa. 105 degrees. the 276 comes with an lsa of 110 from memory and a factory cam is 117 (also from memory).

i dont see the problem in changing your cam for the noise you want. i pretty much did.

changed lifters obviously and new valve springs and timing chain, thats about it though. its not a hard task if you wanted to do it yourself. plenty of people have.


im also getting a stally and new auto, but ive left the heads and intake standard, because i dont feel the need to spend ridiculous amounts of money on a somewhat whale of a car, when i could buy an ls1 for about 10 grand now, and have more power for a hell of alot less money.

you wont get any... in fact, if its wrong itll go worse and use more petrol.

but itll sound lumpy tho.

But it's a race cam. There is an extra 25 rwkw in the term "race cam" alone :thumbsup:

sorry to hijack the thread.im running a injected 304 in my vl with a t5.at the end of year when i go te respray bay i plan to put some compresion into it along with a hi rise and biger throttle body but retaining the standard stroke with a basic rebuild/rings and bearings etc....

what cam should i choose?i was thinking the 286 or 284 to be safer????

i havent got the exhaust made up yet so i am unsure what to do there.what should i get to match the future work and cam i have planned?i was looking into a single 2.5 or 3 inch with a decent cat?
