VZ UTE 2005
Hey all, I’m just looking for some advice on a swapping an engine. I have a 2005 VZ ute which has thrown a bearing. I’m wanting to replace the motor but I’ve searched and searched for a manual engine but only seem to be coming across auto but I have been told that it’s not a simple/straight forward swap. Does anyone know if it’s possible for me to use an auto engine and marry it to the factory manual transmission or if I’m better off searching and waiting for one to come about which isn’t very likely at this point in time. Any advice for the engine swap would be greatly appreciated. I appreciate the help everyone!

A basic motor can be installed in an Auto or Manual?

It’s still the same motor,
The only difference is what it bolts up to,
However,
Manual has a flywheel,
Auto has a flex plate.
Make sure you torque the bolts up correctly.
And It is recommended to use ALL your existing sensors,
While you have the replacement motor out, Replace the chains and oil pump,
Believe me, it’s much easier.

Would need to swap the spigot bush or bearing that goes in the back of the crank, not 100% sure with the alloy tech but usually they differ from auto to manual on most engines

They should be exactly the same bar the spigot bush. There shouldn't be a difference like there was for the locating pin holes for the flywheel on the manual Ecotec and Buick motors.
