Fark me!! I pay $390/year for full comprehensive V8 Wagon with AAMI, I'm 27.

I have cranked up my excess to $2k cause if I'm gunna crash it's gunna be a big one!

Shannons didn't want to talk to me either, must be a Melbourne thing, couldn't even give them my name to check driver history as some claim is the reason, it was "Hi, i want to get a quote" "What year is the car?" "2007" "are you in a car club" "No" "sorry we can't insure you" literally that quick to dismiss me.

That's because they aren't a run of the mill insurance company, they specialise in classic cars. 2007 is not a classic car, so that's all they needed to know to dismiss you. They will insure your new car/daily driver, if you have a classic car insured with them aswell, but not on it's own.

A guy at work insures his VX SS though Shannons no problems. Its his only car btw.

I'm sure there is the odd new car that gets through the system, but for the most part they won't insure a new car on its own. I guess it can just come down to the person you get on the day.
