Maybe do a practical test, keep pouring water into the intake manifold until a piston comes through the head. Remember to put your safety glasses on though...

The smallest amount of water will cause hydraulic lock and will pretty much put a hole in your engine block. That goes for any engine especially diesels. I don't know why your putting a commodore near water anyway? And the intake picks up down near the fog light.

It's actually a bit under the headlight. Not right down by the foglight but it is lower than the headlight.

So the answer is, anything that's higher than the bottom of the front bar and you could potentially risk damage to the motor.

If your taking it in water just remove the pipe off the airbox going down into the bumper and add one that faces backwards into the engine bay.

I'd love to see a commy with a snorkel.
