In reply to "Boss's" comment,
The car doesnt use any coolant, if it does it is a very small amount.

MaNiacVP, I will take a photo tonight of the engine ( where the leak is ) and post it.
Thanks for all of the help!! it is very much appreciated!

My dad and my brother both know alot about cars so they might be able to help me with the repairs, Although they tend to focus a little more on 4WD's lol.

that temp thing happens on my car too but i dont get the coolant thing happening the thermo fan kicks in and brings the temp don to about half
its a worry but you get used to it.

my friend has a vs and his temp never gets over half i dont know why some do and some dont.

but if you find the cause let me know i might have the same prob if there is one.

VSII cruiser
Hey Im interested in finding out whats going on too. My VS will cruise down a highway at 1/4 temp, then when idling it will rise to over 1/2, when the thermo fan kicks it it will go back down under half and sit until I move again.

I guess its designed to do it that way, but if there are VSs out there that dont go over 1/2, I guess its not a good thing. My car idles smoothly, runs smoothly too. No issues.

GUYS, I HAVE THE CURE !!!

My dads VR was giving him HELL, with all the symtoms that u all say!

After unsucsessfully trying to torch the car, we took it down to a radiator specialist / builder ( the same guy that pressure test / soak test etc ), his 16 yr old apprentice comes up to me and says
" These bloody things block up so easy, there a f&$k'n pain in the bum, I'll fix it !"

In bugger all time, he had the top and bottom tanks off the radiator, used some wire looking think to clean out the tubes in it, as he says they are too small, thats why they block, the **** gets caught up in them!
Soldered the tanks back on. Has had NO problems since. We returned that arvo with a ctn of 4X for the apprentice!

Good Luck To you all!!!

QUOTE (scotty @ Jan 27 2004, 08:22 PM) Just a quick question...

Does anyone know how much it would cost to have a Head Gasket replaced?
and also how much to have the inlet manifold gasket replaced?

Thanks,

Scott
scotty, the easiest way to check if you are sucking air through a knackered inlet manifold gasket is:with the car running spray some fuel or aerostart or even flyspray will do,along the edge between the head and manifold where your gasket is located.do this when the car is cold because an engine that is idling rough because of leaking inlet gasket will often run sweet when the engine is at operating temp, because everything expands closing up any leaks.if it is sucking air you will hear the engine pick up revs as you spray your chosen fuel along the gasket, because it will suck it in and give it a bit of a dose of extra fuel.try this mate because it will tell you for sure if this is your rough idling problem.
