cruise control or working

hi all,

i got a cruise control function not working.
is there only really 3 main parts to this..
1) cables
2) the colum stick
3) cruise control computer

what is the part most likely to have died here..?

i see 2nd hand controller for 50-80 are they worth it? whats a new one worth?
i seen some sticks 2d hand i think about 30-40...are they worth it..what a new one worth..

any help would be great

Does the dash say cruse when its pressed.
And there is a switch above break peddle touching the break peddle for disengaging the cruse control this will stop it activating
