Hi. I'm wanting to cut the springs on my VE SS to lower it until I save for coilovers. Does anyone know how much I would have to cut off the springs to lower the car by 30mm?

Non. Cutting springs is not a safe way to lower a car. Do it once, do it right.

As Imm said, don't do it. You change the handling, ride & braking characteristics of your vehicle, most likely void your insurance if you had an accident.

I think if you cut the springs you will alter the timing of the front struts, as the springs need to be in a certain position or you can damage the strut bushes over time. And has been said you will mess up the handling.

If you want to lower it, dont wast your time cutting the springs,
checkout FB marketplace, there is a fair few sets of springs on there that will do the job.

Just cause you’re on the Gold Coast doesn’t mean you have to cut your springs. I’m in Ipswich and didn’t cut my springs.

Just save up and buy the springs A) they aren’t that expensive and B) you’ll save yourself a world of hurt by not getting caught with cut springs. It’s illegal and will void your insurance.

When you go coilovers, do your research. There are some poor units out there on ebay and the likes.

The obvious answer here is to cut 8 coils out and then roll the guards with the jack handle.

Come on guys, keep up. ;)
