thicker oil will make the spider gears harder to turn and could quite possibly make the diff twin more but will suck a fair amount of extra hp out the engine and lower economy

Why? If the vehicle is traveling normally without a lot of hard turns, then the actual 'differential' action will be minimal. I don't see how this would require extra hp or affect fuel economy much, as the 'spider' (side) gears would be carrying out a minimum of differential action.

You could compare it to the pre-load on the side gears - with the cones, in a limited slip differential - and I haven't heard a lot of adverse fuel economy issues with them.

The diff crown wheel has to spin through a bath of oil (for lubrication) that sits half full in your diff housing. thicker oil = harder to move through

run 50metre's, and then run 50 metre's in a swimming pool . . . . .

and I tried the welding thing, and wow , it grips so much it stalls the engine ;)

your using the wrong mig wire , try the organic gas less one
