Nice one.

Where were you about 6 years ago when I asked my dealer to do it and they said they can't? :)

Of course, there is a simpler way to do it by disconnecting the wire under the seat, but some say that can mess with the SRS system. Not sure if true, but not willing to take the risk.

I would not take the risk either mate.
Just go to a Auto Elec with a capable Scanner or if your in Sydney I can do it for a small fee.
I think its part of a safety feature that's why the dealer wont turn it off?

Yeah, it's a safety thing, but they said they didn't know how to turn it off! Typical dealer...

I think I've gotten used to it. Not sure it bothers me enough now to do anything about it. :)

Something a little less drastic!!

You could put the seatbelt on before turning the key, works for me.

Fyi on Friday I programed to new keys on a Vz Commodore 2005 model and notice there is a option to turn the seat belt chime off on the Tech2.
But on the Ve Commodore you need to enable police mode to turn off seat belt chime.
