Hey everyone,

I did a search and it only made me more confused.

I get a fast, loud ticking sound from my exhaust on decel, but only when I've given it some. Say 4000 revs in 2nd, foot off throttle - exhaust ticks like crazy.

Never ticks any other time, or even just on regular driving deceleration. Only when the revs are up there.

If this is was an exhaust leak wouldn't it tick all the time?

It's a 2.5 inch twin xforce to 100cpi cats and headers.

Sorry if it's a newbie question but it's really loud and quite annoying as it sounds awesome any other time.

Cheers guys

Is it like a crackling sound? Possibly just unburnt fuel in the cats igniting.

No, I love that sound :p

It's a fast, loud tick. Sounds like very loud lifters or similar

A leaking exhaust manifold gasket, or a very small hole
in the exhaust manifold, will make that kind of "ticking" sound.

Just going from experience is all.

It could yes.
Depending on the leak.
Worth investigating though.

Stick your ear down by the manifold,
while revving the engine and have a listen.

Did an exhaust leak end up being an issue, if so, how did you find the leak?
