Need to remove the fuel pump/sender unit from the tank and rectify.
Most likely the fuel level float arm is caught or bent.
If you had it done by a shop, take it back and see if they will fix for free. With a hoist, it will only take a few minutes to remove and refit if the tank is nearly empty.

+1 for problem with sender unit. They are very fiddly to reinstall.

They are if it's a Live Axle, but a tank removal job if it's in an IRS fitted vehicle.

Yeah I snapped the float getting mine out or back in, can't remember which. I used a cable tie to fix it. It was fine after that.

Is that comment specifically related to wagons? I've replaced the fuel pump on my VS Calais V8 and VS Clubsport sedans in the driveway without having to remove the tank.

Oh Wow !, I've always been of the understanding that the space given between the body mounted Diff and the tank sender is not enough to maneuver it out, obviously I'm wrong.

BTW wagons never had IRS fitted until VT.
