GTA 4 is a cpu intensive game as stated by various posters on the GTA forum's

Here my new specs now

Core I7 920 @2.40ghz stock but they overclock pretty good

3GB of DDR 3 ram

8800GTX 786mb graphics card yes it is outdate now but still runs the game good but will be getting a GTX 295 soon :yeah:

Bottom line is people with Core i7's saying that the gameplay is smoother

he needs to turns down some gfx settings is all, core i7s dont make a big difference in games. @ OP is your pc prebuilt by any chance? dell etc?

well duhh lol, its not all that different to a quad core though (ie the Qxxxx series)

also, if you can wait, the new generation of graphics cards are coming out q3 this year.

All I would do considering your stats is drop the res to 1200 * 1024 and go from there.

If it is still jerky I would then lower some of the detail settings down.

I dunno.... seems to run better with a higher res...

I turned OFF dynamic shadows.. which helped ALOT... and turned more things down to medium... only left textures on high... still looks pretty good and runs fairly smooth...

Good game luckily so I don't notice much when i get into it... :p

Though it gets choppy when I'm flying a chopper over the city...
