No worries m8. Good luck which ever way it goes. I know my old cam was chewed out a bit due to the old lifters so bit the bullet but didnt regret the upgrade...

no, one of the sa guys on here had a 220/224 in his clubby with the standard exhaust..
it would obv help tho

Like ash said. With a manual you can go a bigger cam and still be very driveable for a daily. Wish i
had a manual sometimes, good pik up..

Back to the OP, I'd also recommend changing to a different oil to begin with, even if it's just to get some more time before an overhaul.

I've recently switched to Penrite HPR5 5w40 (with the advertised "extra 10 zinc"). I was dubious at first going from a 10w40 to the 5w40, but I've really noticed it has made the engine smoother, quieter and improved fuel efficiency. Yeah, interesting right. It's also usually a bit cheaper than Castrol Edge, the widely accepted best oil for LS1.
