If you accidently leave your lights on in a vs calais and you turn your car off , does the headlight switch off, on its own straight away or after some time?.

My Berlina did. Although there were instances where it didn't, drained the battery and left me stranded.

You can make them stay on by flicking the light switch.

I know you can set a time delay for some models, I've done it in my statesman. my lights turn off 10 seconds after I open my driver's door. your car being a calais I'd say it would have this feature too.

I can't remember how to do it off the top of my head but if it's a feature of your car it will be in the owner's manual.

The gregorys VS workshop manual says-
Automatic lamps off delay.
1) Turn the ignition on. Switch the park lamps on and close the drivers door.
2)Hold the courtesy lamp switch on and turn the ignition off.
3)Open the drivers door, this starts the delay period.
4)Wait the desired delay period and release the courtesy lamp switch. The delay period is now set and the park lamps will now go out.

NOTE- The delay period will not be set if the vehicle is moving. The maximum delay period is 120 seconds and the default delay period is 30 seconds.

In my base model povo pack VS ute if i leave the ignition switch on the headlights turn on with the ignition and when i turn the ignition off they stay on until i open the drivers door. In my VZ the lights turn on when i press the unlock button on my keys and turn off when i press the lock button.
