Here is an excellent case in point as to the complexity and unfairness of traffic monitoring via a proposed OBD3 system (aside of how expensive it would be to install monitoring infrastructure).
This poor bastard drives a Mazda. Worse still is this Mazda has fault codes that would in theory be the kind a proposed system would be looking for.
They’ve taken the car to multiple places to have it rectified but the automotive industry is not skilled enough to solve the persons problems. They have spent money and gone to effort to do the right thing and it takes a fricken diagnostic expert (seen here) to solve the issue.
The Automotive industry is so far off the mark for skills, it’s a joke.
