I have a manual vy ss. My father has an auto ba xr6t. So I've driven both.
Performance wise they are very similar. Although we both tell each other ours is faster.
I find the vy is finished much nicer. The ba fuel cap for example is what you'd find on an old corolla, whereas the vy follows the contour of the car and has a nice seal so it fits properly. The interior also feels like they put some care into it.
The xr6t auto also isn't great. Unless you put it in tiptronic it doesn't feel like it actually let's you spool the turbo in first gear.
Apparently the falcons have weak diffs, his was rebuilt at 80k (albeit it may have had a hard life), he bought it at 100k
When he was using mine, same driver same sort of driving (mostly motorway) he averaged 12l/100k over 2 tanks. The xr6t consistently does 12.8 so there's not alot in it.
Overall they're similar but in both of our opinions the vy pips it at the post.
