how did everyones car hold on on that 42C day in melbourne? :S
ive had a small problem..

driving along for about an hour and came to some traffic lights.
when i took off from the lights the car was just hopping along like it couldn't get enough petrol.. i managed to pull into a service lane and on idle the engine was coughing and being really rough.

my temp guage was perfectly fine and after about 15mins of letting the car cool down it was back to normal (i think)

so my questions are.. is this caused by suckin in to much hot air and what ive heard, something to do with petrol evaporation (no idea)

im also smelling petrol from time to time in the car and i think its drinking more then it should.. could there be anything with a slight leak or sweat?

any problems anyone has encountered before?

thx.

It was 43 here on the Central Coast and I had issues for a few minutes.
I suspect it was a vapour issue, engine too hot and the fuel vapourises.
Was a major issue in 186/192 motors and many Fords years ago but haven't heard of it in commodores with V6's.
Anyway no engine light just a few pops and farts and a severe lack of power.

It shouldn't be vapour lock as the fuel lines are pressurised to about 35 PSI at all times. The old cars used to suffer from vapour lock as they sucked the fuel from the tank which reduces the pressure to below atmosphere causing it to boil in hot weather. Modern cars with fuel injection like the VS pump the fuel from the tank as distinct from sucking in the old days. Maybe the inlet air temp sensor gets confused with such high ambient temps and over or under fuels the injectors.
