drain the fuel tank for a start, im not sure how much the fuel filter will catch try to blow out as much as possible from the fuel lines then put some metho in the tank (it will absorb the water) prolly 5 lts will surfice and then dump it out again.Or as previously mentioned take it to a mechanic.

We have a workshop in Lithgow and would like to help......
We have often seen that people are at a loss when they encounter water in their fuel and it can be quickly eliminated with the use of the Australian Fuel System Additive called INTERJECT; Depending on how much is in the tank, you could hot wire the fuel pump and as water is heavier than fuel and sits on the bottom, it will be evacuated first. Use glass jars as a means of determining when the petrol colour comes through, and then just add 1 or 2 (green) bottles of Interject and you will have no problems guarranteed. Each 250ml bottle of Interject will completely encapsulate 250 mls of petrol and will be burnt in the combustion chamber.
Once the Interject has "absorbed" the water, it won't seperate back out again, so it is rendered harmless to the fuel injection system.
For those that are interested, we have a web site Blue Mountains Fuel Injection | FuelMate, Inter-Ject, Dyno Dynamics | Katoomba NSW which explains a lot more about how the Interject works.
It's often good when the complicated problems are overcome so easily.
Best wishes and happy motoring from an old mechanic that still loves to fix problems and look after people. signed Harry Holzmann.

At the risk of perpetuating spam, there's no need to add anything to a petrol fuel tank to remove water. Simply run a tank or a few tanks of E10 through. The EtOH in the E10 will dissolve any water and it will be drawn through and remove with the fuel. If there's more water than can be dealt with by using E10 the car won't run well enough (or at all) to avoid removing and draining the tank anyway.

In case u do it again...
fuel (oil) floats on water so ur pump is going to suck up water and bugger it.
You need to remove the tank and empty it completely. Syphoning will not get it all out.
