how to top up transmission fluid

Well, if it's hot it would mean that it's been running at some point and the oil has been pumped into the internals of the transmission instead of being in the pan. By the time it's cold all the fluid has drained out of the insides into the pan.

What do you mean "just about on the dipstick"?


I mean it just reads maybe a half inch on the dipstick,
No way near the hot mark,
I've just went for a 30min drive there again,checked it at idle,only a half inch on dipstick again,I added another 100mm of oil again,

Should I just keep filling until full?
When I checked it this morning (cold)
It was maybe 1 inch past the cold mark,
I'm doing what it says in the book,maybe it was way under I don't know,the gears were not running bad,it says trans oil is just 4.8lts,I've but 1.6lts in now,
Clearly I don't wanna over fill,
